Packaging Design Manager CA Open (J#27799)

The Packaging Engineering Manager is responsible for bringing new concepts in packaging to the
business. They will ensure that all new and existing materials are tested and meet Treasury Wine
Estates quality requirement. This manager also ensures product packaging specifications are ready and
available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Bring new concepts in packaging materials to the business.
Present multiple packaging options or strategies to marketing
Drive sustainability in packaging design. Work with our customers to provide information on the
sustainability of our packaging.
Design and implement experiments to evaluate new materials: corks, labels, glass, etc.
Report findings to the business and provide guidance to marketing on new concepts in packaging
Work with production personnel at each site to evaluate production capabilities of new packaging
items.
Oversee ongoing laboratory testing to provide continuous improvement in corks, glues, labels, etc,
including ice bucket testing, cork pull tests, label adherence testing, cork carousel evaluation, capillary
testing of corks.
Drive packaging strategies with production on-line testing to include but not limited to light weighting
of glass, changes in specifications on foils, glues corks, etc.
Supervise and direct daily activities of the Sr. Packaging Specialist and Packaging Specialist.
Work with marketing, procurement and production on all packaging product development
Attend brand packaging meetings and provide technical guidance for implementation of new
packaging projects.
Develop and Perform vendor qualification audits
Manage Product Packaging Specification

Set packaging specifications for all packages
Provide final packaging specifications to production and other departments as needed
Oversee personnel who obtain necessary inspection documents and provide to QA
Develop and update SOPs for packaging area as needed.
Provide documentation on packaging specifications to our customers as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering with 5 years related experience
Must possess strong analytical skills and be detailed-oriented
Statistical methods background mandatory
Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team.
Must be a self-starter and able to work well with minimal direction.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft (Word/Excel/Access).
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to manage time and complete projects based on tight schedules.
Must be well organized and able to prioritize workload.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Customer service focus, proactive follow through and orientation.
Physically able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Ability to maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional
manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers and management.
Five years+ wine industry experience required
Management experience required
